SARAH HILLWARE is an award-winning social entrepreneur, global health and development practitioner, and advocate for girls and women who was recognized in 2021 by Apolitical as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy for her work advancing gender equity in health.
Her research and experience as a social entrepreneur have led her to give two TEDx talks, and in 2014, she was named to the Leadership Center for Excellence 40 Under 40 list. Sarah is also formerly co-founder of a for-profit women's health technology startup, as well as founder and former Executive Director of a nonprofit, Girls Health Ed, an organization delivering comprehensive health and sexuality education to girls and young women globally, for which she currently serves as Board Chair.
Sarah is a fellow of The Royal Society for Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a London-based organization committed to finding practical solutions to social challenges. She is also a lifelong writer who won her first poetry award in childhood, and former Huffington Post blogger. Born in NYC, raised in suburban Louisiana and bred in Washington, DC, she considers herself a nomad and global citizen, who currently resides in Frankfurt, Germany.
